Settled In

We went for a run this morning.... doesn't rain in California? It pours! Nice temperature and just spitting heading out but definitely a solid rain when we packed it in and picked up breakfast at Peet's (a California chain much like Starbucks with very nice pastries).

GPS woman then directed us to Hollywood Blvd. after taking an intentional detour through the Laurel Canyon area (very charming) and Fry's electronics (mecca for Jim). We parked at Grauman's Chinese theatre and spent some time gawking with the other tourists on the star walk.... this is basically Time's Square with out the live theatre and more retail (Disney store, Planet Hollywood and malls) not that interesting really. Picked up hot chocolate..... since it really is quite cool but since we enjoy ridiculous sunny warm weather in Ireland and Wales I guess a day of rain in LA isn't so bad. http://www.calmadhan.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/P1040129-201x300.jpghttp://www.calmadhan.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/P1040127-300x300.jpg We walked a bit of Sunset Blvd. and then on down to Melrose Ave.

By this time we're back in the car since these roads go on forever and though there are interesting pockets the spaces between them are multiple iterations of IHOP, Jack-in-the-box, KFC, Urban Outfitters.... and yet no book stores. It took forever to find a book store to purchase a guide book from. Even in the book store I had to run the gauntlet of cards, candy, DVDs and jewellery(?) to get to the books.

Once in Beverly Hills we hit the Sony store (Jim wanted to check out their new e-reader) which is not available to buy wet but he could at least demo it..... not impressed enough yet I think. We raced back to the hotel, got changed and then bombed down the coast to meet Elizabeth and Mike Agamamian, Mike is on the board of Cimtek, who live in Laguna Niguel.

We enjoyed a lovely dinner with them in Laguna beach followed by a brief walk on the beach. Very nice but we had to head back fairly early since Laguna was a little over on hour down the coast.

And that was day 2

Dale

Yes its me Dale......and this is where I take the time each night when I travel, to reflect.  Which is a modern way of saying I'm just trying to remember what I did from one day to the next.  Things can get muddled on holiday and a doumented blog can save on future fights...... especially when I can change the date in the database at will.
