Swaleh's home is in a new complex known as DC colony, interestingly both his neighbors are living in the US and are building here for their families. Gugranwala is a fertile partofmthe country and is famous for BBQ. A BBQ expert had been brought in and had prepared lamb, chicken and kabobs which was all fabulous. Rice and Dahl rounded out the feast. The garden was very serene and beautifully maintained and the house designed to accommodate important visitors.
Following lunch we were driven to the other side of Gugranwala to where Ahsan's cousin was buried, he passed in 2007 of lukemia, and they have created a family graveyard. This is beside the spinning mill, which we toured as well. This is a massive business which employs over 650 people and runs 24 hours a day 364 days a year ( they only shut down for Eid). It was fascinating to see the raw cotton as it goes through the different processes as it eventually becomes yarn. The batch they were running was cotton polyester. The different machines come from china, Japan, Germany and Switzerland and as parts need to be replaced they prefer to get them from either Germany and Switzerland because they last longer. The last stage involves the cones of yarn cooling in a moist environment for the yarn to shrink.
Once back in Lahore we had a brief visit with the khwajas and then back to gymkhana.
